How much does a kitesurfing lesson in Cancun cost?

Beginner lessons at Get on Board start at $50 USD. The price includes full kitesurf equipment, a helmet radio, an impact vest and a helmet. We accept cash, debit and credit cards, PayPal and cryptocurrency.

How long does it take to learn to kitesurf?

Most students at Get on Board are riding within three to six hours of lessons, usually spread across two or three sessions. The shallow, flat water of the Isla Blanca lagoon makes progress faster than at a spot with waves or deep water.

Do I need any experience to start?

Accepted Answer

No. Beginner lessons start on the beach with the wind window, safety systems and self-rescue, then move to kite control on land before you enter the water. You do need to be comfortable in water that is roughly hip-deep.

When is the best time to kitesurf in Cancun and Isla Blanca?

The main season runs from November to May, with steady north-east trade winds averaging 12 to 25 knots. The strongest wind comes with the El Norte fronts in December and January. From July to October the wind is least consistent and there is a higher chance of storms.

Where exactly do you teach?

At two spots north of Cancun. Punta Sam is about 10 minutes from Cancun city centre. The Isla Blanca lagoon is about 25 minutes north and offers flat, roughly hip-deep water across the whole lagoon.

Yes. Every lesson at Get on Board is taught by an IKO-certified instructor, and each skill you gain is signed off against the IKO standard.

Yes. Every lesson includes a Duotone kite, bar and board, a helmet radio so you can hear your instructor on the water, and safety equipment consisting of an impact vest and a helmet, at no extra charge.
